Festival Guidelines
- Show goes on rain or shine.
- No pets - including dogs, cats, birds, or any other animals - are allowed anywhere on the Festival grounds, campgrounds, or parking lots/cars. It would be cruel to bring your pet to this Festival. Service animals, of course, are an exception.
- No glass is allowed: Including glass bottles, and jars, canned goods, etc.
- Outside Alcohol is absolutely prohibited. We serve beer, wine, and cocktails at the Festival (don’t forget your ID).
- Video Cameras are not allowed on the Festival grounds. Taping is permitted unless the performing artist requests otherwise.
- You are welcome to bring your own food and soft drinks in appropriate containers. We also have an assortment of food vendors with reasonably priced yummy food.
- Not responsible for loss, damages, or personal injury.
- All tickets must be exchanged for a wristband, which must be worn on your wrist, for festival entry.
- Kids 12 and under are FREE for the Festival and camping with a ticketed adult.
- Dancing and hula hooping are welcome in designated areas.
- Sorry, no frisbee playing in the Festival.
- Please use only low back chairs in front of the sound booth on the Festival grounds. If we can roll a basketball under it, we will ask you nicely to move behind the sound booth.
Tarp Line Policy
Our long-standing tarp line policy exists to create a kinder, gentler, more Festivarian-like entry each morning. Please keep in mind that the entry line is a complicated logistical problem and we have developed these rules with decades of experience, while taking a number of factors into consideration.
Our goal is to create an entry procedure that will be fair, orderly, and will satisfy the greatest number of Festivarians. Any feedback or suggestions you may have are greatly encouraged!
Remember, this is a general admission festival. Your tarps do not change that. Festivarians who see an unoccupied tarp are encouraged to have a seat until the owner returns.
No line may form before 5am on Wednesday before the Festival
Tarp Line Policy - Town Side (General Admission)
- You must be physically present in line at all times - no empty chairs!
- Unattended chairs will be kindly moved out of line.
- Numbers will be handed out each morning prior to the gates opening.
- Even after receiving your number, you must stay in line - reasonable bathroom/coffee breaks aside.
- Per Town ordinance, you may not camp in line - this means no tents, no cooking, and no sleeping.
- One number, one person, one (10’x10’) tarp.
- Festivarians with numbers will be admitted into the Festival in order, one at a time, after going through the standard Customs procedure.
Tarp Line Policy - Town Park/Warner Field Side
Town Park & Warner Field Campers may collect a tarp line number for the following day beginning at 1PM on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, & Saturday of the Festival. The details & schedule are as follows:
Wednesday June 19th
- Drawing line number for Thursday, June 20th
- Numbers available at the Festival Box Office from 1pm – Close (9pm)
Thursday June 20th
- Drawing line number for Friday, June 21st
- Numbers available at the Town Park Camp Gate from 1pm – 6pm
- Drawing line number for Saturday, June 22nd
- Numbers available at the Town Park Camp Gate from 1pm – 6pm
- Drawing line number for Sunday, June 23rd
- Numbers available at the Town Park Camp Gate from 1pm – 6pm
In order to collect a random tarp line number, you will need to scan your RFID wristband on a special portal. The portal will only allow Town Park or Warner Field Wristbands to scan once per tarp run number distribution. You will only receive a number if the portal scans green (meaning you haven’t received a number yet for that day).
- If you are unable to get a tarp line number the day before, you will have the opportunity to scan and collect a random number for the current day’s tarp run between 7:30am and 8:00am each morning of the Festival at the Town Park Camp Gate.
- Numbers will not be distributed at any other times, so we recommend getting your number the day before!
- Just like normal, head to the Town Park Camp Gate 30min before Festival Gates open and get in order based on your line numbers to prepare for entry!
Sustainable Festivation Policy
The success of our efforts to make the Festival more green depends on everyone. For several years, everyone involved has noted a great spirit of cooperation among Festivarians in regard to the efforts to reduce waste. By preparing ahead of time, you can make a difference with regards to festival waste and energy consumption. Here are a few ideas:
- Bring reusable items such as water bottles, insulated travel mugs, and vintage TBF beer cups.
- Carpool. Not only is it more gentle on the environment, it’s more fun too! (You think YOU sound good singing along to vintage New Grass Revival at the top of your lungs on the way to Telluride? You’ll sound even better with more people!) Check out the “Hitching a Ride” board at the Festivarian Forum.
- Take your recycling home when you leave the valley so that we can reduce the number of truck trips to carry the waste to Grand Junction.
- Bring your own personal eating utensils and reusable napkins.
- If you’re staying in a hotel or condo, let them know that you don’t need to have your towels and sheets washed daily.
- Bring your own bag if you buy groceries.
- Bring home your beer cups, as they will last for years. If you can’t, please dispose of them only in the specially marked containers at the beer booth and customs gate.
- Share your knowledge and ideas with Planet Bluegrass on survey cards and in our Harmony Green area (formally Greentown), or by emailing green@bluegrass.com
FAQs- General Festival Info
Please come prepared for any and all weather conditions. This includes: intense sun, heat, rain, wind, hail, and possibly snow. The show happens rain or shine! At an altitude of close to 9,000 feet the weather changes quickly. It does get chilly at night even if the temperature is in the 90s during the day.
Please don’t! No pets of any kind are allowed within the Festival grounds, campgrounds, or parking lots.
If you need a place for your dog to stay, here are a few options:
- Montrose Veterinary Clinic: 970-249-5469
- Deleff Kennels (Delta): 970-874-4058
- Cottonwood Ranch & Kennel (Crawford): 970-921-7100
- Wag Resort (Grand Junction): 970-241-2949
- Iron Will Dog Lodge (Montrose): 970-596-8709
Numerous lodging options are available in Telluride and nearby Mountain Village. For more info visit our Lodging Page or Camping Page.
You’re welcome to bring in your own food and soft drinks in appropriate containers. No glass, alcohol, or video cameras are allowed on the Festival grounds.
We serve beer and wine at the festival (don’t forget your ID!) and we have a wide assortment of food vendors.
All seating is general admission on the lawn, so be sure to bring a tarp or chair. Only low-back chairs are allowed in front of the sound booth. Tarps are allowed to reserve space and to protect the grass. Umbrellas, shade tents and other view obstructing items are allowed along the back fence only.
No, a 4-Day Pass will be one wristband that is fastened to one Festivarian for the entire 4 days of the festival. We sell single-day passes for individuals only attending one or more individual days.
The festival dates revolve around the weekend closest to the Summer Solstice. Here are the dates for the next two years: June 19-22, 2025; June 18-21, 2026
FAQs- Camping
The Festival operates several campgrounds from 0 to 10 miles from the Festival Grounds. You can find all of the information about those campgrounds here.
Additionally, there are several Forest Service Campgrounds in the greater Telluride area. Please refer to the Forest Service’s website for up to date information on their nearby campgrounds.
NOTE: Sleeping in cars is prohibited in the Town of Telluride and there is very limited dispersed camping nearby.
We will have space for everyone to camp in the campground you purchased tickets to. Some of our campgrounds are so popular that we have very intensive lineup procedures in place to handle early arrivals. Please review the information page for the individual campgrounds for details.
Camping is sold per person, not per site. Every person in your group that is 13 years or older needs to purchase a camping pass. A camping ticket is for tent camping only. A separate vehicle pass is required for camping with your vehicle.
EXCEPTION: Lawson Hill RV Passes do not require additional camping passes, provided that all campers fit in the credentialed RV and you have to purchase the Lawson Hill RV Pass.
In Town Park (max 24ft.) and Mary E (max 22ft.) to camp with a vehicle, everyone in your party must have a camping pass for the respective campground and you must purchase a vehicle pass for your camper, car, or trailer of choice.
For Example: You and two friends want to camp in your sweet 1980’s Winnebago Camper Van. Nice! To do that, you must purchase either three Town Park or Mary E camping passes (4-Day Pass included) and one corresponding vehicle pass.
The Lawson Hill RV (max 28ft.) lot is located outside of the Lawson Hill Campground so camping passes are not required but you must purchase a Lawson Hill RV pass. These are extremely limited. You can have as many RV mates as you want in your RV but they all must have a 4-Day Pass to the Festival.
For Example: You and 3 friends want to camp is your retro 1970’s Airstream. Sweet! To do that, you must purchase four 4-Day Passes for the Festival and one Lawson Hill RV pass.
NOTE: The Warner Field Campground does not allow vehicles or RV’s. Be sure to check the campground details page to double check before purchase.
A vehicle is considered anything requiring a license plate, e.g. a camper, trailer, tow vehicle, etc. If you intend to have both your camper-trailer and tow vehicle in the campground, then you must have 2 vehicle passes or a vehicle pass and an RV pass, depending on the length of the camper trailer (see above FAQ). We have plenty of free parking for tow vehicles so we encourage you to only purchase vehicle passes for the vehicle you intend to sleep in.
If you don’t need your vehicle in the campground, you don’t need a campground vehicle pass. You can temporarily drive into the campground to unload your gear. Once you’re finished, ask an attendant which off-site parking lot is being filled, and head that way.
Our campgrounds all have access to fresh water and porta-potties. Some have permanent bathrooms for your use, including showers. Check the info page for each campground to see what facilities are available.
Wood fires are not allowed in any campgrounds for everyone’s safety. This includes smokeless fire pits like Solo Stoves. Propane fire pits are allowed as long as they are entirely under adult supervision and never left unattended.
Town Park and Warner Field are within easy walking distance of the festival. Lawson Hill and Mary E Ilium require shuttle bus access. Shuttles run Wednesday through Monday.
Shuttle Hours:
Wednesday - Sunday: 7am - 3am
Monday (after the festival): 7am - 2pm
Nope! All campgrounds close at noon on the Monday after the festival.
Festival camping is very high density, and it is almost impossible to safely use generators without them being too close to your neighbors’ tents. Please be respectful of your fellow campers and leave those generators at home. If you need to use medical devices overnight, we request that you utilize battery packs.
FAQs- Parking & Transportation
You will not be able to drive into or park on the streets of Telluride from the Wednesday before through Sunday of the festival unless you have a barricade pass, local county license plates or a handicap sticker.
If you have a vehicle pass for Town Park you may drive through the barricade to the campground. In order to park in Telluride after Tuesday, June 13 you will need a Town Access sticker for your windshield. We do not have these; they are not for sale. They are distributed by the Parks and Recreation department of Telluride.
If you are staying in a hotel or condo in town, the lodging company or hotel will supply you with this sticker. If you live in town, go to the department of Parks and Recreation to get the sticker. If you are coming for the festival, you may park in the festival parking lot in Mountain Village. You may not camp or sleep overnight in your vehicle in any of the parking lots. A free shuttle bus services the parking area and campgrounds. We encourage you to walk or bring your bike and use the beautiful bike path!
The festival parking lot is just outside of Town at the Mountain Village parking garage. Parking overnight is free during the festival weekend. There are free shuttles from the parking lot to the gondola or you can walk to the gondola.
You can also find more information on parking at our Getting Here page.
Handicap parking is available at the festival with an authorized handicap sticker.
Yes, there is a small airport in Telluride. Flights are very limited, so we recommend looking at the Montrose airport, which is a 75 minute drive from Telluride.
The gondola is a free transportation option between Telluride and Mountain Village (this is where the ski resort is). The approximately 13 minute ride is incredibly beautiful. The gondola stops running at 2 am during the festival.
