Change to Tarp Policy
Please note: Due to overwhelming Festivarian feedback, we will be limiting the maximum tarp size for the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival: Tarps may not exceed 10 feet in length or width. As in past years, we expect that large groups will play nice, occupying just the space they need. Any tarps longer than 10’ on either side will need to be folded to fit within a 10’x10’ space.
Parking
Every year, the biggest problem we have at our Lyons Festivals is Festivarians parking in residential areas and in front of businesses. When you come to the Festivals, please park only in designated areas. There is a nominal fee ($10 cash), but it will strengthen the relationship with the town and its residents while securing the future of the Festivals. Thanks!
If you are coming to the Festival and not camping, you must park in the designated parking lot at the Planet Bluegrass Farm ($5 per day / $10 cash for the entire festival with unlimited re-entry). There will be plenty of signs to direct you.
If you are camping and would like your vehicle with you, make sure you have purchased a vehicle pass. Every vehicle on-site must have a vehicle pass. A vehicle is considered anything requiring a license plate. This pass is separate from your camping pass.
The parking area and campgrounds are serviced by a free shuttle bus to the festival. We encourage you to walk or bring your bicycle!
Camping
- Camping is sold per person and per vehicle, not per site. If there are two of you and you want to have your vehicle or RV at the campground with you, you must purchase two camping passes and one vehicle or RV pass in addition to your Festival passes.
- Only vehicles less than 18 feet are allowed in the on-site campground.
- A vehicle is considered anything requiring a license plate.
- Showers are available at the Festival in the Planet Bluegrass Bathhouse.
- On-site camping opens at 6pm Thursday (view the line procedure below) and LaVern Johnson Park opens on Thursday morning at 9:30am (view the line procedure below).
- Camping areas close at noon on the Monday after the festival.
Rules & Guidelines
- Show goes on rain or shine.
- No pets, including dogs, cats, birds, or any other animals, are allowed anywhere in the Festival grounds, campgrounds, or parking lots and cars. - Smoking, dancing, and hula-hooping are welcome in designated areas.
- No frisbee playing in the Festival.
- Children 12 and under get FREE entry into the festival and campgrounds when accompanied by a ticketed adult.

- Not responsible for loss, damages, or personal injury.
- All tickets must be exchanged for a wristband, which must be worn on your wrist, for festival entry.

- In the spirit of Festivarianism, if you see an empty tarp, feel free to have a seat until the owner returns.
Camping Load In Policies
Tarp Line Policy
We have established this policy in hopes of creating a kinder, gentler, more Festivarian-like entry each morning. Please keep in mind that the entry line is a complicated logistical problem and we have developed these rules with a lot of experience and a number of factors in consideration. Our goal is to create an entry procedure that will be fair, orderly, and will satisfy the greatest number of Festivarians.
- Festivarians may begin assembling for the next day’s line numbers no earlier than 11pm.
- At around midnight, the number line will be led through the customs gate, where we will distribute random numbers and mark wristbands to show receipt of a number.
- These numbers will be shuffled randomly; each person may receive no more than one number. We will mark each person’s wristband to insure that no one receives more than one number per night.
- The next morning, Festivarians should re-assemble in line-number order beginning one hour before gates. Festivarians will be admitted into the Festival in this randomly-assigned order, followed by all Festivarians without line numbers.
- During the initial tarp run, Festivarians may carry in a single tarp, not larger than 10’x10’. (If your tarp does not fit inside a 10’x10’ space, we will ask you to fold it to fit within those maximum dimensions.)
Early Access Policy
Festivarians who require special accommodations will be allowed to enter the main festival grounds 15 minutes prior to the opening of gates and the tarp run. All early access will originate from the West Gate along the backstage road.
The following rules apply to all early access Festivarians:
- The Festivarian obtaining early access may utilize the assistance of up to TWO companions
- All other members of the party must either participate in the tarp run or wait until gates have opened to join the group.
- The Festivarian obtaining early access is limited to a single 10’x 10’ tarp space.
- If his/her group desires more space, other members of the group must enter with the tarp run after gates open and claim this space.
- Early access is limited to the areas outlined in this map.
- These spaces have been selected for their accessibility, shade, and/or assisted listening capabilities.
Refund Policy
If you need a refund, please e-mail: help@seetickets.us. The subject line of your email should read: “Folks Festival Refund - (your name)”. Please include your See Tickets order number (begins with the letters “gn”) along with exact details of your refund request.
Refund requests for Folks Festival must be made on or before April 7, 2023.
See Tickets can only refund you back to the same card that your tickets were purchased. There will be no refunds after this date. No extensions or exceptions.

The closest airport is DIA, Denver International Airport. It is about one hour from Lyons. General Information: 303-342-2000 www.flydenver.com
Please come prepared for various weather conditions. This includes: intense sun, heat, rain, and wind. The show goes on rain or shine! At an altitude of close to 6,000 feet, the weather can change quickly. It can get chilly at night even if the temperature is in the 90s during the day. SUNSCREEN IS A MUST! Please remember to DRINK LOTS OF WATER and WATCH YOUR ALCOHOL consumption, especially if you’re coming from lower elevations.
ALCOHOL, GLASS, and VIDEO CAMERAS ARE NOT ALLOWED on the Festival grounds. You’re welcome to bring in food and soft drinks in appropriate containers. We serve beer at the Festival, (don’t forget your ID!) and we have a wide variety of vendors with reasonably priced YUMMY FOOD, cool crafts, clothing, and other interesting products.
Audio recording the music at the festival is permitted, unless the performing artist requests otherwise. Recording devices must be self-contained (we do not provide AC outlets or patches from the sound board) and you may not obstruct the view of your fellow festivarians with your equipment. There is no designated area for taping.
Seating is all general admission lawn seating so bring a tarp or chair. Please use only low-back lawn chairs so folks behind you can see. Dancing is welcome in the designated dance areas. One tarp (max 10ft. x 10ft.) can be used to reserve space on the grass. For safety and courtesy considerations, you may not sit in the pedestrian walkways. Small tents and lawn chairs are welcome in the rear of the festival grounds. You (and your gear!!) will need to clear out of the Festival grounds each day.
Children 12 years old and under get FREE entry into the festival and campgrounds when accompanied by a ticketed adult. Check out the family tent daily for fun family activities! Please accompany your children at all times.
Campgrounds are equipped with porta potties and fresh water. Hookups are available only at LaVern Johnson Park with an appropriate, pre-purchased RV vehicle pass. Showers and real flush toilets are available on-site at our bath house.
No. No campfires are allowed in any of the campgrounds, regardless of whether an official fire ban has been issued.
Inner tubes can be purchased for a small fee at the local tire store across the street.
Lyons is a small town where you can get the basics. Within a mile or less from the Ranch gate, you can get to the post office, a small grocery store, restaurants, liquor stores, and coffee shops. Within a two-mile radius, you can find more restaurants, gas stations, a bank, and several antique dealers.
We do not have any public phone on site at the Ranch. Cell phone coverage at the ranch can be problematic. Generally, the Verizon and Sprint networks work best in Lyons, and AT&T is among the weakest. Service improves once you are a mile or so away closer to Boulder and Longmont.
If you are planning to fly into Denver International Airport, you have several options to get from Denver to Lyons. The Denver metro bus system, RTD, stops about 1/2 mile from the PB Ranch gate. Another private service, the Estes Park Shuttle, makes four daily runs from DIA to Estes Park, dropping you off at the PB Ranch on the way. The North Denver Airport Shuttle and Superior Shuttle both serve Lyons. For more details, contact these services directly:
- RTD (Denver Area Bus system) - 800-366-7433 | www.rtd-denver.com
- Super Shuttle (From DIA to Lyons Area) - 800-258-3826 | www.supershuttle.com
- Estes Park Shuttle - 970-586-5151 | www.estesparkshuttle.com
- Superior Shuttle - 303-399-2812
- North Denver Airport Shuttle - 303-457-4646
There are a number of lodges and motels in the surrounding area, which offer a wide range of accommodations. Visit our lodging page for more information.
From Thursday, August 10th through Sunday, August 13th, LaVern Johnson Park ticket holders and Lyons residents will be allowed access to the park. Residency will be determined by ID (from 80540). Lyons residents will be limited to foot traffic only, no vehicles.
