What To Expect
The Venue - Telluride Town Park
The Telluride Bluegrass Music Festival grounds are located within the Telluride Town Park. A map is available here to show the Festival layout and accessibility features.
The Telluride Town Park can be accessed via sidewalk, walking trails, car, campground shuttle, and town shuttle (Galloping Goose). The gondola can be used from Mountain Village to the center of Town and from there the Galloping Goose or walking may be an option. Other transportation options are the use of Telluride Express. If arriving by car, please see the ADA Parking section below.
The Box Office is located in the Post Office parking lot. Accessible Seating Area Add-on wristbands must be added to your ticket order and picked up at the Box Office. It is roughly a 0.1 mile (2 city blocks) distance from the Box Office to the center of the Town Park.
The Town Park is a large grass field with hard-packed dirt and gravel pathways. Access paths leading into the park are a mixture of concrete pathways and hard-packed dirt pathways. Most of the terrain is flat.
Chairs and shade structures are NOT provided and must be brought in by attendees. To help provide clear views, the field is divided into areas where low-back, high-back, and shade structures are allowed. Many people bring in Tarps (10’ x 10’ maximum) to lay on the ground, however tarps are not allowed in the accessibility seating areas.
The Festival is general admission for the 12,000 attendees. Accessible seating areas (see map) are reserved for those that meet the requirements below. Entrance into the festival is determined by a random lineup process that restarts each night, ahead of the day of Festival.
Bathroom Facilities are portable toilets with temporary handwashing stations.
Food and Craft vendors are located along the back and side of the park and accessed via dirt pathways. Two water stations are located on the east and west sides of the park.
A Medical Tent, with medical personnel, is located to the left of the stage and is available for first aid situations and carries medical supplies including sunscreen, earplugs, bandages, medications, etc.
Electricity and Wifi are not available in Town Park for use by the general public.
Expect amplified music for the duration of the Festival. If you are sensitive to sound, it is recommended to bring protective or assistive hearing devices.
Expect bright lighting on stage, and at times in the audience, once the sun goes down.
The Weather
Telluride’s breathtaking scenery comes with dramatic weather shifts, making preparation essential for a safe and enjoyable experience. Telluride, Colorado, experiences volatile and extreme weather due to its high-altitude location in the San Juan Mountains. Rapid temperature changes, sudden storms, and unpredictable conditions are common and expected.
Key Weather Characteristics and Recommendations
- Sun Intensity – The high elevation leads to strong UV exposure even at low temperatures. Wear UV protective clothing, sunglasses, and hats. Apply sunscreen often! Bring a shade structure (only allowed in certain areas).
- Sudden Temperature Drops – Daytime highs can reach the 80s°F but temperatures may plummet into the 30s°F at night. It is recommended to bring many different types of clothing layers.
- Afternoon Thunderstorms – Summer months (June-August) often bring short but intense thunderstorms, sometimes with hail, high winds, and lightning. Download the Festival App for instant notifications.
- Strong Winds – Mountain ridges and valleys experience gusty winds, which can intensify weather shifts and make outdoor conditions challenging. Dusty conditions are common. A face mask may be helpful if you have pulmonary disabilities.
- Low Oxygen & Dry Air – At 8,750 feet (2,667 meters) elevation, the air is thin and dry, causing dehydration and altitude sickness for some visitors. Supplemental canned oxygen is available at stores in the Town of Telluride.
Accessible Seating Areas
Accessible Seating areas are reserved for those who use wheelchairs, those who use other mobility devices, and those who cannot walk long distances because of significant arthritis or severe respiratory, circulatory, or cardiac conditions.

If accessible seating is used in violation of this policy, the party is subject to investigation, denial of entry, relocation and/or ejection from the venue. - To use preferred camping in any of our campgrounds, Festivarians MUST have ALREADY purchased the appropriate festival, camping, and vehicle (if applicable) passes specific to the campground.
- Preferred camping spots are available on a first come, first serve basis.
